Meet the Crew Part Deux
Mood:  bright
Now Playing: Joshua Thurston and Elizabeth Alper
Have you ever thought of the countless union workers who have been laid off from camera operating jobs because of robotic cameras? Well Josh Thurston, our Robotic Camera Op, is just one of the people responsible...

PS. Josh is also a Segment Producer.

Josh Thurston is from Lowell, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston. He is a sophomore at Emerson College studying Televsion/Video Production. Josh likes photography and wants to be a cinematographer one day. He currently also works for WGBH in Boston on the program NOVA.

Mickey screws up his lines a lot. Mallory's too professional...but who saves the day when Mal's in a twist and Mickey's in a bind? Our Assistant Director, Liz Alper! She also works the TelePrompTer too. She also gets our graphics. She kind of does a lot. And We kind of like her for that.

Liz Alper is a junior at Emerson College studying Television/Video Production from Pawtucket, Rhode Island. She works on the Emerson Channel, a closed circuit award winning college channel that does between 30 and 40 hours a week of original programming. She also works at Emerson Independent Video, Emerson's video production arm, as a Director of Special Programs. A fun fact about Liz is that she is Jewish and yet believes in Santa Claus.

Meet the Crew
Now Playing: Ilana Plen
Ever wonder who comes up with those witty one liners during BALLS ? Or who controls the floor in studio to keep Mallory and Mickey from ripping each other's clothes off? Well, meet one of our writer's, Ms. Plen (upper right)and Ms. McAlduff (lower left).

A Bio of Ilana Abby Plen by Ilana Abby Plen

Ilana is a student at Emerson College. She currently has no major, no guidance counselor, and is not an official member of either the freshman or sophomore class. Ilana is a member of Emerson Comedy Workshop, a sketch comedy troupe, and in her free time she enjoys tap dancing, learning to cartwheel, and having small hands. Sometimes she writes. Like right now.

Meghan just graduated Emerson (we'll keep those two summer classes on the hush hush). She was Film Major and is looking to move to LA in the fall. She contributes her new knowledge and new found interest in soccer and the World Cup to Amy and Jen, her friends who make fun of soccer alot and allowed her to get drunk on Wednesays with some pothead who taught her exatcly what offsides means.

As World Cup fever heightens, so does our web TV show, BALLS! With Mallory and Mickey, they are continuing to, well, bust soccer's balls. Here is a slide show of some of the current work they've done out and about with some packages.

News from the World Cup
The U.S. may not be moving on to the round of 16 but Clint Dempsey of the New England Revolution did score the 100th goal of the World Cup! - For some reason, I think Americans would put more value on being the 1,000,000,000,000th customer to sneeze in a department store.

And... in other news, at a recent match, fans were ordered to take off their pants or give up their tickets... check it out! Fans without pants! Would you take off your pants to watch a soccer game?! Let's take a poll - leave a comment and tell us what you'd take your pants off for!

This Just In...Star Bios!
Mickey Boxarox enjoys rubbing people the wrong way...and the right way for that matter. He enjoys being the offbeat yet surprisingly edgy co-anchor of Balls. In fact, he loves Balls… not just the show, all sorts (Mickey doesn’t discriminate). Boxarox is the main engine behind the chug-chug-chugging train of the Balls production crew. When he’s not making connections and being his own one-man show, Mickey enjoys long walks on the beach and long conversations (over champagne and strawberries - of course).

Mallory Hoff is currently enjoying her internet television debut on Lycos TV’s BALLS! Prior to her stint as anchor and reporter for the popular show, Mallory studied Broadcast Journalism at Emerson College. Mallory began performing as a child and went on to garner an award for best actress in the region in 2004. While she was born and raised in Atlanta, GA, Mallory now resides in downtown Boston where she is slowly getting used to the cooler weather. When Mallory isn’t on stage or in front of a camera she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Balls, Balls, Balls...
Mood:  bright
Now Playing: worldcup.lycos.com

Balls, Balls, Balls, Balls, Balls....No I'm not a Liza Minelli fan, I'm talking about the brand new show that has hit the web on worldcup.lycos.com. It's the funniest, zaniest, most offbeat show on the web. It covers soccer from the fringe and that's the best part about it. With Mickey Boxarox and Mallory Hoff, the two comment on the news and soccer and bring them together with hilarious results!

Between covering Gay Pride to Youth Soccer, Mickey and Mallory manage to bring it all back full circle to World Cup 2006! Check it out!
